27 YEARS OF BUSINESS HISTORY
Price Hike in International Market
As a good share of the total demand of fertilizer in Bangladesh is met through imports, the fertilizer industry is exposed to the risk of fluctuating prices in the international market. The prices of fertilizers have gone up sharply in the international markets during the last couple of years because of high energy costs and the shrinkage of fertilizer production materials. Devaluation of BDT against the currencies of countries from which the fertilizer is imported will also cause an increase in imported fertilizer prices. As fertilizer is a highly subsidized sector, any abrupt changes in the policies formed by those bodies will impact the business of the firm adversely. Changes in government also bring about changes in policies which also can affect the business adversely. Unless any unfavourable policies are taken, which may materially affect the industry as a whole; the business of the firm will not be affected.
